Fort Collins City Council heard an economic development update from InnoSphere and reviewed a downtown parking optimization update during an August 11, 2026 work session.

The Economic Development Director introduced InnoSphere's CEO, who presented on the organization's activities — including its real estate projects and funding opportunities — framed around regional economic prosperity and the NSF ASCEND Engine initiative spanning Colorado and Wyoming1. Councilmembers asked questions, expressed support for the organization's work, and discussed the potential for future collaborations1.

The Deputy City Manager then introduced the downtown parking item, in which staff presented data on system utilization, capacity, occupancy rates, peak times, and user behavior, describing the case for a more efficient parking system2. Councilmembers discussed potential responses — including pilot projects, paid parking, and dedicated employee parking — and raised the effect any changes could have on downtown businesses2.
